Departure from Marrakech

Pickup from your riad/hotel in Marrakech.
Travel in comfortable minivan or private car. Head southeast on the scenic road, climbing into the High Atlas Mountains.
Enjoy winding switchbacks, Berber villages and mountain vistas. Stops for photos at viewpoints or roadside markets

~9:30–10:30 AM :

Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260m)

Summit North Africa's highest paved pass, breathtaking panoramas of rugged peaks, valleys, and snow.
Short photo stop; fresh mountain air and perhaps mint tea from a local stall.

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM :

Kasbah Telouet & ounila Valley

Arrive at this historic Glaoui pasha residence (early 20th century), once a key control point on ancient caravan routes.
Guided tour (Optional): Explore preserved ornate rooms with stunning zellige tilework, cedar ceilings, stucco, and colorful mosaics, far more elaborate inside than the rugged exterior suggests.
Less crowded than Ait Ben Haddou; a peaceful, atmospheric "hidden gem" with crumbling sections adding to its authentic feel.
Drive through the beautiful Ounila Valley

1:30–4:00 PM :

Lunch & Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Lunch at a local restaurant or viewpoint spot
Arrive at this iconic red-earth fortified village on the Ounila River banks, one of Morocco's most photographed sites (featured in Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Lawrence of Arabia..).
Cross the river (footbridge or seasonal ford) and explore with a local guide: wander narrow alleys, viewpoints, visit restored houses, and learn about Berber architecture and film history.
Optional: Visit a local Berber family home for tea or short cultural demo.

4:00–5:00 PM :

Departure Back to Marrakech

Depart Ait Ben Haddou, retracing via Tizi n'Tichka Pass (sunset views if timing works).
Possible quick stops: Berber village viewpoints, or tea break.
Arrive back in Marrakech ~8:00 PM
